Journey to the Cross

It was just like any other ordinary Saturday, where all MYFers gather at church, singing praises and worshipping our Lord, meditating and discussing on the word of God, having fellowship and concerning for one another through sharing…BUT there was something different that drew us together last Saturday. It was an event held tailored for the Holy week (a week commemorating the last week of Jesus on earth before He was crucified).

It all started off with songs of praise, songs that tell us how much Jesus loves us by willing to be crucified for us. We then turned to a 30 minutes short selected clips about Jesus crucification from the movie “Passion of the Christ”, which strived to ponder about “Why has Christ done all these?” and “Lord, what do you want me to learn from Your sufferings?” This was to help the brothers and sisters to see the very personal message from the crucifixion of Christ.

Subsequent to the movie, we were separated into four groups to discuss on the four effects of Christ’s redemption and salvation: Our sins are forgiven; Our relationships are reconciled to our heavenly Father; We are called righteous; We have eternal hope. These are important truths to learn as we walk the Christian life.

It comes to an end that night where we sang “Nearer to Cross” by Fanny Crosby. It was indeed a blessed evening whereby it has inspired us to think about the unreserved love of our Lord Jesus that was clearly showed through His nail pierced hands…

One of the ways that we may respond to this sacrificial love is to tell the story of Jesus without ceasing to those who have yet to know Him. Do you still remember when was the last time you share the story of Jesus to your friends and those people around you? Are you willing to commit yourselves to carry this cross and walk with Jesus? Take up the challenge and start telling the story of our Lord Jesus…. And you will find that the love of Jesus is more than just a reality, it is a life changing power!

“For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.” 1 Cor 2:2
