Exploring the GUA TEMPURUNG

I wonder why this trip is held on the same date with our 12th General Election? For mentioned in previous post which calls out to all Christians in Malaysia to "vote wisely", one example of glaring contradiction among ourselves is this trip. It sounds interesting with the exciting exploration awaits, affordable and heavily subsidised price, together with convenient transportation provided. But are we forgetting something? How about our responsibility as an eligible voter? Many countries went to war just to fight for their rights to vote. Being a constitutional democratic country, Malaysia allows its citizens the right to expression to a certain extend. Voting is one of it. Are we then taking things for granted? With the leading (and dominant) political party never changed, has it really made our precious vote seemed insignificant?

Should we, respect and walk with Malaysia in this important historical moment, and anticipate a better government to lead His land? Think about it, and at least, let's pray that Kenya Crisis never repeats itself in Malaysia.

We were glad that finally someone took an effort to pen down some comments. We were first amazed when the date scheduled for our Gua tempurung trip coincides with the 12th General Election.... Especially when Pak Lah announced the date accordingly. Planning was made so much earlier not knowing that the trip will clash with the election. The objective of the trip was to create an opportunity for all MYFers as well as all youth of the church to have fellowship through an outdoor experience.

Our hearts were troubled since then especially when we were questioned by elders of the church. We started to gather in prayers and learn to be submissive. We started to think for a backup arrangement, knowing that there is a possibility that we need to cancel the trip. However, we noted that all participants, who have registered for the trip are not eligible voters as they are either outstation students or have not registered for voting. As for MYFers, who are eligible voters, they have made arrangements to go back to their respective hometown to cast their votes!!!! After further consideration on the pro and cons, it gives us no excuse to cancel the trip…disappointing the participants.

Praise the Lord, the trip turned out to be so memorable and successful...We are thankful that apart from the MYFers, there were several new friends as well as the MIFers have joined the adventurous trip exploring the wondrous cave - GUA TEMPURUNG! We believe everyone has enjoyed the trip as much as we did! Two thumbs up to the committee members, Silvester, Amy, Seau Chee, William, Xiao Wei… and anyone who have put in effort to make this trip a success… All glory be unto our heavenly Father in the highest!

Somehow the last paragraph of my first comment has been dismissed. "-respect- and walk with Malaysia in this important historical moment, and anticipate a better government to lead His land" means put our attention to this GE, which is a -national- event, irregards of your voting status. If you can't vote doesn't mean you have nothing to do with our GE. As a Malaysian we have every reason to keep every moves of Malaysia in view. Same with if you can't help the poor kids in Africa doesn't mean you have no responsibility to know about their sufferings. Ignorance is the word.

However, if you did according to what God wants you to, then it's fine.
